As you get older your body gets weaker, and all of your senses start to get dull, so there are many old people who have troubles with hearing and sight. Mollie Smith is 99-year-old woman from the UK, she was born in 1914 and she lived near the areas where German bombs were dropped during the First World War.
After one air raid Mollie’s hearing was damaged, and ever since that moment her life became harder. As she got older her hearing got worse, but 27 years ago she went completely deaf. Ever since she was deaf, her family has spent thousands of pounds on hearing aids, but none of them helped to return Mollie’s hearing. However, a few days ago Mollie became the oldest person in Europe to receive a hearing implant, and thanks to this implant she is able to hear again.
The implant does not cure deafness, but it is a great prosthetic substitute for hearing. This implant is inserted under patient’s skin and is connected to the patient’s inner ear, after this device detects sound it sends an electrical signal that imitates sound to the patient.
Thanks to this wonderful device Mollie’s wish will be fulfilled, she will hear her entire family singing happy birthday on her 100th birthday.happy wheels
