Bright lights, exhilarating entertainment, and great company are all you need to enjoy an event of a lifetime. During January, while many countries will be in the cold, Australia will have its warmth during the season summer. From January 9-26, Sydney Festival 2014 will start off with wild performances that will make your jaw drop!
A variety of performances will make their appearance, some are even premieres. At Sydney Festival 2013, Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman’s 15-meter high yellow Rubber Duck made quite the splash in Darling Harbour, so the Sydney Festival allowed it to make a comeback. Residents of Parramatta and its visitors are invited to Parramatta Park to get up close with Sydney’s favorite five-storey yellow bird. In Festival Village, Donny Benét returns to Sydney Festival with his show band to host three Friday nights of free Italo funk disco. Meanwhile outside the Spiegeltent, a grand choice of DJs and bands will hit the Festival Village bandstand to carry your evening on through to the early morning hours.
Other free performances to choose from include: Sky Terrace, Ferrython, Sacrilege, Summer Sounds in the Domain, POP 2014, Paradiso Lates, and more. For more information, please look at www.sydneyfestival.org.au. You will find a calendar with schedules, descriptions of the entertainment, and tickets. Enjoy the bright lights of Sydney in the summertime!
